The Pain Behind The Music

This is what Lipglo$$ had to say of the album:

“Longmont. It’s a smaller city in Colorado perhaps most famously the home of the trickster Longmont Potion Castle. It’s a place I lived and recorded this whole record in a drunken weekend. Tasked with watching someone’s house, I ended up drinking every bit of alcohol they owned and staying up all night smoking and recording. It’s some occult form of folk that was greatly inspired by DJ Screw and The Louvin Brothers. I recorded it straight into a Tascam 8-track mic because it captured the lovesick/broken vibe of what I was going through. The people I loved would come through to party but I always ended up alone and in pain, so I drank and recorded until I had wasted the gig.
I was in love for the first time. It was such a murky and destructive form of it. This record is the most soul filled shit I ever laid to tape. I never tried to replicate this tape in any form because it was a moment in space held perfectly preserved in the audio. It’s fucked and you can’t understand a word of it, but that was what the vibe was. Even the track names show you where I was at. The moments of occult transcendence mixed with youthful anger at how low I had stooped. It’s an aftertaste of metal and oil.
I never intended for this one to be heard. I played it for one person before I released it. It’s just pain directly into the veins. No chaser and uncut. It’s fucking brutal. I lived through those tracks. There’s a spirit in them that exists in space but not time. It’s held up buy fucked up folk and bad bad bad times. If I could go back I don’t know if I’d have ever put it out, but here we are and I’m talking about to you now. So I’m conflicted about if I even want any one to listen to this album. But if you insist.”
