about

Sugar and Spice

CryptoPolitics is an Ann Arbor, MI based producer who makes futurist tracks that explore footwork and jungle through a filter of modern pop. It’s sounds like Top 40 made on 90’s software and really is as sweetened an album as this label has ventured into yet. It’s over in a blink of an eye but has endless replay value.
The producer’s first record “Feed Ur Screen” is a venture into machine based love. It’s the poppiest album our label has ever released and but also challenging emotionally. It’s a shot of nostalgic hyperpop that hits you right in the gut. The short tracks burst and hit, finding their grooves in the upper tempos. They’re fast and change constantly but are ear candy through and through. There’s a lot of Juke and Footwork influence but it’s firmly in the bubblegum pop sphere. The tracks all flow and vibe off of each other and the afterglow makes you want to put it back on as soon as it ends. The panic you feel is a euphoric paranoia. But it’s more longing than fearful.
Opener “I Love U” speeds through a footwork mash of flutes and keys. “Killjoy” is radio trash filtering through an upbeat trance filter. You can dance and 2-step to it but it’s in and out fast. Things get wonkier in “Logos Work” which it’s speed infested trap or SoundCloud rap mixed with jungle. The middle section starts to get more emotional. The pained sonics or the middle parts segway into the more experimental elements of “Pass That”, “Speed Demon” and “No WiFi”. “Goodbye” might be the strongest track on the album and is an excellent way to go into true end of the album. We’ve found some real gold with CryptoPolitics and are sure you’ll love this sweet piece of ice cream cake.
